Landmates Wanted!

We are looking for folks to join us at Bubbawood this year. If you are unfamiliar with our land, here’s a little bit of info: We are at the end of short, private dirt road in the Northwestern Park neighborhood, 7 miles from White Salmon. The White Salmon river is about a half mile away (swimming holes!). We currently have a thirty foot yurt that we live in with our two-year-old son, and a little tiny house on a trailer that we rent out on Airbnb and use for guests. There is also an outdoor “tree shower,” a composting toilet, a little off-grid 10x12 cabin that our friends from Portland are building, a stage slash tent platform in the woods, and a sweet kiddie play structure. The land is mostly forested with oaks and firs but has a big, south-facing meadow (excellent garden potential!). There are gorgeous trails leading out our backyard into the neighboring intentional community and the state forest land beyond.

We bought this land a couple years ago intending to share it with other folks. We have put the idea of co-owning on the back burner for now, but we would like to have some more company this year! Ideally, we imagine a couple with one or maybe two young children who could be playmates for Wren, although we are open to a single person or couple as well. Here’s the catch: you gotta bring your own house! There’s a really nice, flat-ish spot we have in mind where you could park a tiny house, trailer, RV or the like. There are big firs and oaks surrounding it for shade, but it also has nice views of ridges to the east and west. It’s about a hundred yard walk from the parking area, so you’d have to be into that (you can drive up to drop off large items when it’s not too muddy).

This could be either a rent arrangement or a work-trade involving childcare or work on the land. We’re open to different options. Our main interest is to find some folks we get along well with, to create more community on the land, and ideally to get some some onsite buddies for Wren. This could be an open-ended arrangement, or it could just be for the spring through the fall (we are traveling until March 1). Please get in touch if you’re interested. We’re not going to post publicly at this point, but feel free to share with your network in whatever way you see fit.

Happy New Year!
